Throwing an Adult Halloween Party

Adult Halloween Party

Halloween is usually considered an event for the little ones—trick or treat and most local activities involve the whole family. But sometimes, you just have to throw an adult Halloween party and get in the spirit of the holiday with your friends. Here’s some tips for hosting the best party for festive adults.

Send Invites Early

Even if it’s a chill gathering, you want to send out invitations early so that guests have time to get a costume ready, as well as find someone to watch their kids.

Pick a Theme

Halloween is more fun with a theme. Go for a witch’s cottage with bubbling punch bowls, or a noir murder mystery, or a decrepit haunted house—your imagination is the limit.

Have a Costume Contest

In order to encourage people to come dressed up, you might want to promise some prizes for the best costumes! Have prizes for first, second, and third place, or if the party is big enough, rate by category!

Have Fun Games

Bobbing for apples, a murder mystery game, and even thematic activities like fortune-telling or, if you have trees in your backyard, a haunted trail go a long way.

Halloween-Themed Drinks

Having cocktails? Looking up a few recipes for some drinks that fit the mood can make all the difference.

Learn the History of St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick's DaySt. Patrick’s Day is the most celebrated Irish holiday with parties and cultural recognition occurring around the globe. The holiday’s history stretches back more than 1,500 years and has been so storied that facts and legend have merged. While the history of St. Patrick’s Day may not be the clearest, the founding certainly is.

Patrick, also known as Maewyn Succat or Patricius, was likely born in Roman-England or Scotland around the year 400 to his father Calpurnius, a Roman-British army officer. He was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland. He spent six years in prison before dreaming of God telling him to escape.

He escaped and ventured to France where he joined a monastery. He became a bishop after 12 years of training, after which God told him to return to Ireland. With the Pope’s blessing, he set out to aid the Irish.

Once there, St. Patrick converted many of the Irish to Christianity, including many royal families. Although he was arrested on more than one occasion, he escaped to continue setting up schools and churches as a foundation for the Ireland we know today.

We at Haddad Nissan can’t wait to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day next month!
